Privacy Policy
The short version
- TalkHook collects a name and phone number so a business can call you back, because you asked it to.
- We text you only about the request you made. Reply STOP and the texts stop.
- We don't sell your information. The name and phone number you give are never used for advertising.
- Ask us to see or delete your information at [email protected].
Who we are
TalkHook is a product of Fontus Marketing LLC, 2709 N Hayden Island Dr, STE 117484, Portland, OR 97217, USA (“we”, “us”). This policy covers talkhook.com, talkhook.app, the TalkHook button that businesses put on their websites, and the text messages and calls that come from it.
Whose information, and whose decision
There are four kinds of people this policy is about:
- Visitors to a business's website who use the TalkHook button there. That business decides what happens with your request. We handle it on the business's behalf to get you the callback you asked for. The business's own privacy policy also applies, so read it too.
- People who try our demo on talkhook.com or talkhook.app. For the demo, we are the business, and we're the ones who call you back.
- Visitors to talkhook.com and talkhook.app.
- Our customers, the businesses that use TalkHook.
What we collect
When you use the TalkHook button
- The name and phone number you type in, and which option you picked: a call now, a call at a time you chose, or a message (with the message text).
- The page you were on, the page that sent you there, and any campaign tags in the address (such as UTM tags or ad click IDs), so the business knows where the request came from.
- Your time zone, used to schedule calls at the right hour.
- A random identifier stored in your browser, and your IP address, used to limit how many requests can be made and to stop abuse.
The form also has a hidden field that people can't see but spam bots fill in. We use it only to reject spam.
When you try the demo
Your phone number, and whether you entered the four-digit code we texted you. We use the code to make sure nobody can use the demo to call or text someone else's phone.
When you visit talkhook.com or talkhook.app
Our hosting provider records standard technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you open, to deliver the site and keep it secure. On talkhook.com, our pages also run two tools that use cookies. Google Analytics tells us which pages you open and how you got here. The Meta Pixel, a small piece of code from Meta (the company behind Facebook and Instagram), tells Meta which of our pages you open and whether you try the demo or start checkout. Meta can connect that to your Facebook or Instagram account. We use these to see whether our ads work and to show them to people more likely to care. Neither tool gets the name or phone number you type into the TalkHook button. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads.
If you ask for a preview of a website on talkhook.app, or check an install, we fetch that one public page to show it to you. We don't keep a copy of the page. We do record that it happened: the website's address and name, when, your approximate location (city and country, from your internet connection), whether you were on a phone or a computer, and the link or ad that brought you, plus a code made from your connection that changes daily and doesn't identify you. We use this to see who is interested in TalkHook, and we may contact that business about it. We keep these records for up to 180 days.
When you become a customer
Your business details, the phone number and email address for alerts, your opening hours and your website address. Payments are handled by our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
How we use it
- To pass your request to the business and alert them to call you back.
- To send you text messages about that request (see below).
- To hold a scheduled call until the time you picked, or until the business opens.
- To keep the service working and secure: limiting requests, stopping spam and abuse, and noticing when something breaks.
- For the demo, to call you back and talk about TalkHook, if you want to.
- For customers, to run your account, bill you and support you.
- To follow up with businesses whose website was previewed on talkhook.app, or whose install was checked, about TalkHook.
Text messages
When you ask for a call or send a message through the TalkHook button, you agree to receive text messages about that request from the business, sent through TalkHook. These are a confirmation, a heads-up when the call is about to happen, and a follow-up if the business couldn't reach you. Most requests get between one and three messages. They are not marketing messages.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to any message and you won't get more texts about it.
- For help, email [email protected].
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
Who we share it with
- The business whose button you used. That's the point of the request.
- Service providers who help us run TalkHook and may only use the information to do that work: website hosting and network security (Cloudflare), email (Google Workspace), the providers that send text messages, place calls and store contact records for us, and our payment processor.
- Google and Meta, through Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel on talkhook.com. Google uses what it collects only to provide Google Analytics to us. Meta also uses what the Meta Pixel collects for its own advertising, under Meta's privacy policy.
- When the law requires it, or to protect people from fraud or harm.
- If the business changes hands, for example in a sale or merger, under the same promises as this policy.
We do not sell personal information. The only information used for advertising is what the Meta Pixel collects about visits to talkhook.com, described above. The name and phone number you give are never used for it.
How long we keep it
Information from requests is kept for as long as the business that received it uses TalkHook and needs it for its customer records. After that we delete it. Technical data used for rate limits and security is kept for a short time, usually days, and then discarded. Demo numbers are kept so we can call you back and prevent repeated abuse of the demo. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.
Your choices
- See, correct or delete your information. Email [email protected]. If your request came through a business's website, we'll also let that business know, because it holds its own copy.
- Stop texts by replying STOP.
- Limit ad tracking. To limit how Meta uses what the Meta Pixel collects, change your ad settings in your Facebook or Instagram account (Meta's instructions), or block cookies in your browser. To stop Google Analytics, block cookies or use Google's opt-out add-on.
- Depending on where you live, including California and other US states, you may have more rights over your information. We'll honor them, and we won't treat you differently for using them.
Children
TalkHook is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has used it, tell us and we'll delete it.
Security
We protect information with encryption in transit, access controls and limits on who can see it. No system is perfect, and if something goes wrong that affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll say so on this page and tell our customers directly.
